Richard specialises in the tax aspects of major transactions, including particularly mergers and acquisitions and infrastructure and property projects.  In these transactions, Richard regularly provides advice through the life cycle of the transaction, including structuring, due diligence, documentation negotiation and post acquisition integration.

Industry Experience

Recent  transactions that Richard has been involved with include:

• the acquisition of Hobart Airport by a Macquarie led consortium; 
• various student accommodation PPPs in Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales; 
• APA’s proposed acquisition of Qantas; Wesfarmers acquisition of Coles; 
• numerous private equity transactions, including Hastings Private Equity’s acquisition of a stake in Bras n Things; 
• Gunns acquisition of Auspine; 
• Healthscope’s proposed acquisition of Symbion; 
• the potential acquisition of Felix Resources
  

Professional Background

Richard is a chartered accountant and a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria. He is a fellow of the Tax Institute of Australia and is a member of the National Tax Liaison Group Tax Consolidation and A-IFRS sub-committees.
